“Progress lives in the moments no one sees — the daily work, the quiet discipline.” – Unknown

Hi, I’m Melissa Violette — a Registered Massage Therapist and Myofunctional Therapist with a passion for helping people overcome TMJ Dysfunction and Orofacial Myofunctional Disorders.

I graduated from the Ontario College of Health and Technology in 2019 and went on to complete certification in Neurofunctional Acupuncture at McMaster University. I have advanced training in Myofunctional Therapy, Buteyko Breathing Method (in progress), and many additional hours focused specifically on TMJD. Along the way, I’ve also added tools like soft tissue release, IASTM, cupping, kinesio taping, and microcurrent point stimulation to my practice.

My career has been anything but typical. I was a faculty member for nearly five years at my alma mater. I currently work with professional athletes as part of the Hamilton Tiger-Cats medical team, and I also support touring musicians and vocalists backstage at concerts and music festivals. But what excites me most is working one-on-one with people who feel like they’ve run out of options for their jaw pain and finally helping them connect the dots between their symptoms and what’s happening in their bodies.

This passion is personal, too — I’ve dealt with my own myofunctional challenges, so I know what it feels like to be on the patient side. That lived experience fuels my dedication to offering care that goes deeper than surface-level fixes.

When it comes to TMJ Dysfunction and Myofunctional Disorders, I believe the best care goes beyond night guards, CPAP machines and simply easing tight muscles. Real, lasting change happens when we address the bigger picture: how you breathe, how your tongue rests, how your posture supports (or stresses) your jaw, and even the daily habits that quietly fuel your symptoms.

My approach combines myofunctional therapy with targeted techniques to relieve pain, retrain movement patterns, and reduce strain on your jaw and airway. Education is at the heart of everything I do — because once you understand what’s happening in your body, you can take control of your healing.

I don’t want my patients to need me forever. Instead, I want to give you the tools to feel better, move better, and live better on your own terms. Whether we meet in person or virtually, my goal is to empower you with strategies that not only bring relief, but also create lasting results.

How I Help…

When I’m not helping patients, you’ll usually find me at a baseball game, a concert, or a music festival — live events are my happy place. I also love traveling and have explored countries across Europe and the Caribbean, with Ireland, Croatia, and Iceland among my favourites. At home, I enjoy creative outlets like pyrography, painting banners, and baking cakes.

Family time is especially important to me, and it keeps me grounded and balanced. These passions outside of work give me energy, creativity, and perspective that I bring into my practice every day.
